In 2015, there were 10,869 stroke fatalities in Australia, accounting for 6.8% of the 159,052 deaths.Ī stroke, often referred to in medical terms as a cerebrovascular accident, affects the blood flow to the brain. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in Australia.
